She married William Leroy Harper 18 Nov 1896 in Accomack Co, VA.(1390) He was shown as William Leroy Harper, a 27 year old merchant, born in Pamlico, NC, the son of Leroy & Julia Ann Harper and she was shown as Mary Kate Hebard, age 23 the daughter of Joseph H. & Hester J. Hebard. According to James E. Mears, he was living in the Pungoteague-Nandua section at the time of the marriage.
William was born 1869 in Pamlico, NC.(1391) William(1392) was the son of Leroy Harper and Julia Ann (-----). William died 1956 at 87 years of age.(1393) His body was interred in Onancock Cem, Acc Co, VA.(1394)
Mary was listed with her parents in the census of 1880 in Pungoteague Dist, Bay Side, Acc Co, VA.(1395) She was shown as Mary K. Hebard, age 7 and at school in a household headed by Joseph H. Hebard, a 41 year old teacher.
They resided for a quarter of a century or more at Onley, where Mr. Harper was long connected with the produce business, a major portion of the time with the Eastern Shore Produce Exchange. He was also a justice of the peace for Lee District.(1396)

Harper was educated at Randolph-Macon College and Pearce School of Business, in Philadelphia, after which he lived at Onley for several years, being connected with the general office of the Eastern Shore Produce Exchange. For almost a decade he has been connected with the Federal Farm Loan Bank and now (1934) lives in Houston, TX. During World War I he served in the Federal Army.(1404)
