E.C. & Bettie M. Custis.

She married Robert Lee Shield circa 1885.⁽¹³⁶²⁾ Robert was born 18 Apr 1862 in Accomack Co, VA.⁽¹³⁶³⁾ Robert⁽¹³⁶⁴⁾ was the son of Samuel K. Shield and Mary G. Ames. Robert died 11 Dec 1923 at 61 years of age.⁽¹³⁶⁵⁾ His body was interred in Onancock Cem, Acc Co, VA.⁽¹³⁶⁶⁾ His tombstone shows him as Robert Lee Shield, husband of Margaret Custis Shield.

Margaret was listed with her parents in the census of 1870 in Locust Mount PO, St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁽¹³⁶⁷⁾ She was shown as Margaret S. Custis, age 7 in HH#LM1733 headed by E.O. Finney, a 67 year old farmer. Also listed was Th. E.C. Custis, a 35 year old teacher, who was his father.
