79. Dr. George⁴ Ker (Dr. John³, Rev. George², Edward¹) was born in Northampton Co, VA 20 Mar 1825.⁽⁷⁶⁷⁾ George died 22 Aug 1892 in Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA, at 67 years of age.⁽⁷⁶⁸⁾ Dr. George Ker died at Cessford. His body was interred in Christ Ch Cem, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁶⁹⁾ His tombstone shows him as George Kerr, M.D.

He married Sarah Caroline 'Sally' Winder 2 Oct 1849 (bond) in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁰⁾ He was shown as George Ker (son of John Ker Sr.) and she was shown as Miss Sarah C. Winder, daughter of Nathaniel J. & Sarah U. Winder, who was the security and gave consent. The John Ker Sr. Family Bible shows they were married on 3 Oct 1849. Matthew Wise reports their were 3rd cousins.

Sarah was born 26 Dec 1830 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷¹⁾ Sarah⁽⁷⁷²⁾ was the daughter of Nathaniel James Winder and Sarah Upshur 'Sally' Bayly. Sarah died 24 Sep 1910 at 79 years of age.⁽⁷⁷³⁾ Her body was interred in Christ Ch Cem, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁴⁾ Her tombstone shows her as Sarah Caroline Kerr, wife of Dr. George Kerr and daughter of N.J. & S.U. Winder.

George was listed as a head of household in the census of 1850 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁵⁾ He was shown as George Ker the head of HH#220, a 25 year old physican with real estate valued at $14,000. Listed with him were the following Kers: Sally C., age 19; Hugh, age 19; James, age 13; Herber, age 13; Severan P., age 11; and Abel W., age 6. His brother Edward Ker, age 23 was only 2 doors away in HH#222 headed by Leroy Oldham, a 31 year old merchant.

George was listed as a head of household in the census of 1860 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁶⁾ He was shown as George Kerr the head of HH#264, a 35 year old physican. Listed with him were the following Kerrs: Sarah C., age 29; Ella W., age 9; and Abel U., age 16.

George was listed as a head of household in the census of 1870 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁷⁾ He was shown as Geo. Kerr the head of HH#254, a 45 year old physican. Listed with him were the following Kerrs: Sarah, age 39 & keeping house; Ella, age 19 & attending school; and Geo., age 9 & attending school.

George was listed as a head of household in the census of 1880 in Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁸⁾ He was shown as George Ker, a 55 year old physician and head of household. Listed with him were Kers: Sarach C., a 49 year old wife and keepin house; Ella W., a 29 year old daughter and at home; and George Ker, a 19 year old son and farmer.

He made a will 26 Dec 1888 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁷⁹⁾ He left his whole estate to my very dear and greatly beloved wife Sarah Caroline Ker, and named her Extr. He referred to his children, but not by name.

George's will was probated 12 Sep 1892 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁸⁰⁾

151 i. Ella Winder⁵ Ker⁽⁷⁸¹⁾ was born in Northampton Co, VA 20 Oct 1850.⁽⁷⁸²⁾ She was born at 12 o'clock. Ella died 5 Dec 1923 at 73 years of age.⁽⁷⁸³⁾ She died unmarried and left "Cessford" to my friends Mr. & Mrs. R.L. Ailworth, all except 100 acres on the south side of the land. His body was interred in Christ Ch Cem, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁸⁴⁾ Her tombstone shows her as Ella W. Kerr of "Cessford."

Ella was listed with his parents in the census of 1860 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁸⁵⁾ She was shown as Ella W. Kerr, age 9 in HH#264 headed by George Kerr, a 25 year old physican.

Ella was listed with his parents in the census of 1870 in Northampton Co, VA.⁽⁷⁸⁶⁾ She was shown as Ella Kerr, age 19 & attending school in HH#254 headed by Geo. Kerr, a 45 year old physican.

Ella was listed with his parents in the census of 1880 in Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁸⁷⁾ She was shown as Ella W. Ker, a 29 year old daughter and at home in a household headed by George Ker, a 55 year old physician.

152 ii. George Winder Ker⁽⁷⁸⁸⁾ was born in Northampton Co, VA 19 Aug 1860.⁽⁷⁸⁹⁾ He was born at 20 minutes 6 o'clock A.M. George died 8 Feb 1890 at 29 years of age.⁽⁷⁹⁰⁾ The remains of George K. Kerr, the only son of Dr. George Kerr of this place (Eastville) who was killed in the railroad accident on the Norfolk & Western on Saturday night, were brought home tonight (February 10th) for interment. His body was interred in Christ Ch Cem, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA.⁽⁷⁹¹⁾ His tombstone shows him as George Winder Kerr.
