Catherine C.⁵ Wise (Eliza E.⁴ Coard, Catherine Margaret 'Peggy'³ Scarburgh, Jean² Ker, Edward¹)⁽⁸⁸⁵⁾ was born in Accomack Co, VA 15 Nov 1831.⁽⁸⁸⁶⁾ Catherine died 4 Apr 1860 at 28 years of age.⁽⁸⁸⁷⁾ Her body was interred in Kellam Cem, Pungoteague, Acc Co, VA.⁽⁸⁸⁸⁾ The stone shows that she was the daughter of Dr. Jno. R. & Elizabeth E. Wise and that she died at the age of 28 years, 4 months and 20 days.

She married twice. She married Hugh S. Powell 22 Jan 1849 in Accomack Co, VA.⁽⁸⁸⁹⁾ They were shown as Hugh S. Powell and Catharine Wise. No other information was given. (Note: The marriage year may be in error since they were not listed together in the 1850 census, which was taken in Sep 1850.)

Hugh was born circa 1827 in Accomack Co, VA.⁽⁸⁹⁰⁾ Hugh⁽⁸⁹¹⁾ was the son of Arthur R. Powell and Elizabeth 'Betsey' Bell. Hugh died 16 Nov 1853 in First District, Acc Co, VA, at 26 years of age.⁽⁸⁹²⁾ He was shown as Hugh Powell, who died of pneumonia at the age of 24 years. He was the son of Arthur & B. Powell, born in Acc Co, a farmer and the husband of Catty C. Powell. A midwife Mary West gave the information.

She married William P. Bayly 24 May 1855 in Pungoteague, Acc Co, VA.⁽⁸⁹³⁾ He was a 22 year old merchant, the son of Jno. J. & Sally Bayly and she was also age 22, the widow of Hugh S. Powell & the daughter of Jno. R. & Eliza W. Wise. They were married by Montcalm Oldham and H.C. Walker said both were over age 21.

William was born 28 Jan 1833 in Accomack Co, VA.⁽⁸⁹⁴⁾ William⁽⁸⁹⁵⁾ was the son of John J. Bayly and Sally P. Sturgis. William died 5 Feb 1881 in Accomack Co, VA, at 48 years of age.⁽⁸⁹⁶⁾

Catherine was listed with her mother in the census of 1850 in St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁽⁸⁹⁷⁾ She was shown as Catharine C. Wise, age 18 in HH#442 headed by Frederick C.A. Kellam, a 35 year old physican with real estate valued at $1,800. Also listed was Eliza E. Kellam, age 44, who was evidently her mother by a prior marriage.

Catherine C. Wise and William P. Bayly had the following children:

169 i. Charles H.⁶ Bayly⁽⁸⁹⁸⁾ was born in Accomack Co, VA 16 Oct 1856.⁽⁸⁹⁹⁾ Charles was listed with another family in the cenus of 1860 in St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁽⁹⁰⁰⁾ He was shown as Chas. Bayley, age 3 in HH#692 headed by Thos. S. Bayley, age 29. (Note: Thomas was his uncle, the brother of his father William P. Bayly.)

Charles was listed with his father in the census of 1870 in St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁽⁹⁰¹⁾ He was shown as Charles H. Bayly, age 13 in HH#LM909 headed by Wm. P. Bayly, a 36 year old farmer.

170 ii. William P. Bayly⁽⁹⁰²⁾ was born in Accomack Co, VA circa 1860.⁽⁹⁰³⁾ He was shown as Wm. P. Bayly, age 10 in HH#LM909 headed by Wm. P. Bayly, a 36 year old farmer.
