(Edward1)(111) was born in Accomack Co, VA 1768.(112) John died Sep 1806 in Accomack Co, VA, at 38 years of age.(113) His body was interred in Scott Hall, Onancock, Acc Co, VA.(114) His tombstone shows him as John Shepard Ker Esq., son of Edward & Margaret Ker, who died Sep 1806 at the age of 38 years. The stone was erected by his son Edward Horsey Ker.
He married Agnes Drummond Corbin circa 1795.(115) Agnes was born Jan 1775 in Accomack Co, VA.(116) Agnes(117) was the daughter of Col. George Corbin and Elizabeth Revell Horsey. Agnes died Feb 1814 in Accomack Co, VA, at 39 years of age.(118) Her body was interred in Scott Hall, Onancock, Acc Co, VA.(119) Her tombstone shows her as Agnes Drummond Ker, wife of John S. Ker and daughter of George & Elizabeth (Revell Horsey) Corbin, who died in Feb 1814 at the age of 39 years, 1 month and 0 days. (Note: Since she had married Samuel Downing after John S. Ker died, she would have been a Downing when she died.)
John was named in his father's will 17 May 1786 in Accomack Co, VA.(120) He was shown as a son John Shephard Ker and given 300 acres of the land bought of James Cox, the line dividing him & his brother Hugh to be the branch running into the head of Pungoteague. He and his brother George were named executors.
John was named as administrator of an estate 28 Dec 1791 in Accomack Co, VA.(121) It was on this date that George Ker, John Shepherd Ker & Samuel Galt were named to settle the estate of Edward Revel. John Teackle Sr. was the security.
John was named as administrator of an estate 12 Feb 1798 in Northampton Co, VA.(122) It was on this date that John Shepherd Kerr was named to settle the estate of Margaret Snead, in the place of William Snead, dec'd.
John was named in a land cause 4 Mar 1801 in St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.(123) John S. Ker vs - Nancy Ker, Margaret Ker, John Ker & David Bowman & William Seymour, a committee of Hugh Ker, an insane person in a Partition Suit. That Edward Ker the elder was lately seized of and in a tract of land containing 250 acres in the Parish of St. George, and being so seized in his lifetime, to-wit: on the ____ day of ____ 17--, made his last will and testament, and devised the premises aforesaid to his four sons, George, John S., Hugh & Edward Ker, to be equally divided; that by virtue thereof the said George, John S., Hugh & Edward Ker entered into the said premises and were seized thereof; that the said George Ker on the ____ day of ____ 179- died intestate, leaving a widow Sarah Ker and three children, to-wit: Nancy, John & Margaret, and no more, whereby the interest of the said George Ker in the said premises descended to the said Nancy, John & Margaret; that the said Edward Ker the younger on the ____ day of ____ 179- died intestate leaving no children nor father nor mother, but brothers and sisters and their descendants, to-wit: the said John S. Ker and the said Hugh his brothers of the whole blood, Elizabeth Seymour & Isabella Bowman his sisters of the whole blood, and Edmund Scarburgh, Jr., Margaret Coward, Alice Bayly & Edward, William & Elizabeth Scarburgh his nephews and nieces, children of Jane Scarburgh, dec., his sister of the whole blood, Margaret, William, John & George Edward Christian his nephews & nieces, children of Catherine Christian, dec., his sister of the whole blood, John & Margaret Revell, his nephew & niece, children of Ann Revell, dec., his sister of the whole blood, the said Nancy, Margaret & John Ker, his nephew & nieces, children of the said George Ker, dec., his brother of the whole blood, and Smith Snead, his nephew, the only child of Margaret Snead, dec., his sister of the whole blood, whereby the interest of the said Edward the younger in the said land descended to his brothers & sisters & nephews & nieces aforesaid, who entered in the same and became seized thereof as of fee, and being so seized on the 29 July 1800 the said John S. Ker, Samuel Coward & the said Margaret, his wife, the said Edmund Scarburgh, Jr., the said Hugh Ker, William Seymour and the said Elizabeth, his wife, David Bowman and the said Isabella his wife, Thomas Bayly and Alice his wife, presented their bill in chancery against the said Edward, William & Elizabeth Scarburgh, Margaret, William, John & George Edward Christian, John & Margaret Revell, Nancy, Margaret & John Ker & Smith Snead for the sale of the said Edward Ker, Jr's. part, which sale was ordered and Edward's part purchased by John S. Ker, so that the said John S. Ker, Nancy, Margaret & John Ker and the said David Bowman & William Seymour, committee as aforesaid of the said Hugh Ker, in right of the said Ker, hold together and undivided the said tract of land - George Parker appointed guardian to the defendants Nancy, Margaret & John Ker, infant defendants, to defend this suit.
John was named as administrator of an estate 27 Dec 1803 in Accomack Co, VA.(124) It was on this date that John S. Ker was named to settle the estate of Edward Ker Jr. John Custis & William Gibb were the securities.
He made a will 28 Aug 1806 in Accomack Co, VA.(125) My estate, given to my wife Agnes Drummond Ker & my children Edward Horsey Ker & Elizabeth Revell Corbin Ker, shall be held together by my wife either until my son Edward H. Ker arrives at the age 21 or during her widowhood for supporting herself & supporting & educating our children & upon the arrival at age of my son or the marriage or death of my wife whichever happens first, the estate to my children. [Note: William Seymour is a business partner of John S. Ker & there are arrangements of business property.] To sister Isabell Bowman during her widowhood £20 & the priviledge of getting firewood off my lands in the neighbourhood of Onancock. Negroes in Somerset County: Caesar, Phillips, Joe, Esther & Lydia to be free on 1 Jan 1808, the time which they are hired to James Gibbons will expire. The following are to be freed on 1 Jan of given year: Jim, 1810; Lambert, 1815; Cole, 1815; Nancy, 1822; Mingo, 1822; Hetty 1823; Nancy & Harriet 1826. To wife Agnes Drummond Ker 1/3 part of the rent & profit of my real estate to be in lieu of dower. To son Edward Horsey Ker the reversion of the land where I live at Onancock called Ker Place, which are deeded to me by Thomas M. Bayly. The following is a list of land purchased or deeded to John S. Ker: Burwell & others, John Guy & wife being part of the tract of John Smith, Onancock, Tully Snead & wife, Ethel Lyon which was formerly Catherine Scott's, John Wise & William Gibb, Chincoteague land purchased of John Marshall of Thomas Teackle Gore, Daniel Jenifer Marshall. To son Edward ... To daughter Elizabeth Revell Corbin Ker land on Pungoteague, land deeded to me by John C. Wilson called Oak Hall lying in Pocomoke, lands in Somerset County, Maryland deeded to me by Edward Horsey, houses & lots in Onancock purchased of Burwell & others, also £500. To nieces Margaret S. Revell & Ann R. Ker a suit of mourning. To friend John Wise & nephew John K. Revell each a suit of mourning. To son Edward Horsey Ker all my books & ... To daughter Elizabeth R. C. Ker all my plates marked with the initials of the Horsey, Corbin or Ker families after the death of her mother. To my Negro men Spencer, Lebin, Caleb, Jack & John, Mingo £20 at the end of their time of service. The remainder to my children Edward H. Ker & Elizabeth R. C. Ker & my wife. John estate was settled 25 Jun 1821 in Accomack Co, VA.(127) At Chincoteague & Onancock. 2 & 6 Dec 1806 (Invy), 2 & 6 Dec 1806 (Sale), 8 Apr 1814 (Order to Audit), 8 Jun 1821 (Final Settlement), 25 Jun 1821 (Rec'd) - William Seymour Extr. Inventory at Chincoteague on 2 Dec 1806. Inventory at Onancock on 6 Dec 1806. Appraisers: Gilbert M. Leatherbury & Samuel Waples. Sale at Chincoteague on 2 Dec 1806. Sale at Onancock on 6 Dec 1806. Cash paid Mrs. Agnes D. Ker for her receipt. Cash paid Col. John Cropper for the Life of Washington. To Edward H. Ker legacy left him by his father in books, bookcase, delivered to Sam Downing Esq. his guardian. To Elizabeth R. C. Ker legacy left her by her father in plates. Auditors: John Finney & Samuel Waples. At final settlement T. Holmes was Extr. of S. Downing & Edward H. Ker represented himself & as guardian to Elizabeth C. Ker. John was named as an heir of Rev War Vetran 31 Jan 1825 in Accomack Co, VA.(129) In the estate settlement of David Bowman, he was shown as John S. Ker and was to receive his 1/9 £115.17.5. (Note: The settlement was finally recored on 31 Jan 1825, but the actual payment may have been years earlier, as David Bowman died in 1805.)

Margaret was born 30 Apr 1803 in Accomack Co, VA.(135) The Bayly-Winder Bible shows 1 May 1803. Margaret(136) was the daughter of Richard Drummond Bayly Esq. and Sarah Downing 'Sally' Upshur.
Margaret died 10 Nov 1821 in Accomack Co, VA, at 18 years of age.(137) Her body was interred in Scott Hall, Onancock, Acc Co, VA.(138)
Edward was named in his father's will 28 Aug 1806 in Accomack Co, VA.(139) She was shown as a son Edward Horsey Ker (under age) in the will of John Shepherd Ker and was given the land where I live at Onancock called Ker Place. He was also given all my books. He was only 9 years old at the time.
He made a will 31 Jan 1826 in Accomack Co, VA.(140) To friend Edward Smith Snead during his life my plantation at Onancock called Ker Place except that part thereof which lies to the west of the road leading from Onancock Town to Deep Creek mill & which part lying on the west part of said road was purchased by my father of John Guy. The Ker Place land estimated at between 800 & 1,000 acres. Also to Edward Smith Snead during his life my plantation on Chincoteague at present occupied by Ethel Lyon & my tract of land near Horn Town called Wolf Ridge at present occupied by Will Douglas free Negro & that tract of wood land adjoining the Wolf Ridge land usually called Hannah's Swamp & my undivided ½ of a tract of land in Somerset County, Maryland on Back Creek & ... & books, farming implements & every article of personal property in & about my house & farm called Ker Place & my stock on the farm in Somerset above mentioned apart of which stock is held in partnership by William D. Seymour & myself. If Edward Smith Snead leaves one or more children or descendants of a child or children, I then give all the estate aforesaid to such child or children ... & if all those children die under age 21 & without issue then I give all the aforesaid estate to William A. Christian, Margaret Ames the wife of Richard Ames, David Bowman, Leah Seymour, Catharine Bayly, Rachel Bayly, Nancy Bayly & Margaret Bayly children of Richard D. Bayly. To friend David Bowman my undivided ½ of land formerly belonging to my grandfather George Corbin on which Edmund Bell now lives on Assawoman Creek & also my undivided ½ of the Ewell land which also belonged to George Corbin. Extr. to sell that part of Ker Place lands on the west side of the road leading from Onancock to Deep Creek & purchased by my father from John Guy & also all my land on Chincoteague & Assateague Islands & also land containing 55 acres in the neighborhood of Horn Town known as the Gore land & also my undivided ½ of land near Chinch Town adjoining the lands of George Bowles containing about 100 acres.
